Yes we know… it can be difficult to make some TLC meals saucy! This recipe will make any grilled protein delicious. Give it a try.


  • 2 large onions cut into thin slices
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • Stevia powder to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of water (plus more to deglaze the pan)
  • Salt to taste


Preheat a pan.
Add the water, lemon juice, vinegar and stevia. Bring to a rapid boil.
Add the onions.
Cook on a medium heat, periodically de-glazing the pan with a little water at a time.
Continue until the onions are soft and the sauce is thick and caramelised.
Add salt if necessary.
Remove from the heat.

Serve your Phase 2 allowance (1 tablespoon of the sauce) over grilled steak or chicken.

Store the balance of the sauce in the fridge (including all the juices at the bottom of the pan). Use within a few days.
