Are you like Anna? Do you doom yourself to failure before you even start? You are not alone! Ask anyone and they will tell you the number one reason people fail at losing weight is they didn’t have the right positive attitude and mind-set from the beginning. This then often ends up with self-sabotage and sets them back with their weight loss goals.
Before understanding the way in which positive self-talk works in your mind to boost your weight loss results and how to create customized positive affirmations for yourself, think about this.

“No matter what diet I try, each time I gain all my weight back”
“I can’t give up sweets or carbs, they make me feel good”

If you think (or say) these negative-thinking phrases, you should know that this is a major reason you can’t lose weight. Really. Believe it or not, they are self-sabotaging, limiting beliefs that you use (subconsciously) to justify WHY you are overweight. You may want to stop using these kind of dis-empowering affirmations.
They create a lot of negative feelings and reinforce continually your body’s mechanism of preserving (and increasing) the amount of body fat you carry.
But how can you change this and stay on track with your weight-loss goal?

Sounds simple right? “No!” I can hear everyone shout…. “Help! How do I become positive and achieve successful weight-loss?!”
First, understand what it is to be Positive:

A person with positive thinking anticipates happiness, health and success, and believes that he or she can overcome any obstacle and difficulty. With a positive attitude you expect the best to happen, you expect success, and this mindset can help make those expectations truth. Positive attitude helps you cope more easily with the daily affairs of life. It brings optimism into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worries and negative thinking. If you adopt it as a way of life, it will bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier, brighter and more successful. It is certainly a state of mind that is well worth developing.
WHY IS POSITIVE THINKING IMPORTANT IN A WEIGHT-LOSS JOURNEY?
Negative attitude says: you cannot achieve success.
Positive attitude says: You can achieve success.
Positive thinking plays a huge role in your weight loss efforts. Constant negative thoughts can lead to destructive behaviours such as going off your diet, overeating and skipping your exercise routine. Positive thoughts, on the other hand, can increase your motivation and energy level.

Having a negative attitude can make you feel that every small setback of slip up in just further proof of your inability to lose weight. The less confidence you have in yourself, the more you berate yourself, the lower your chances of achieving your weight loss goals. When you hold a negative image of yourself, you also rob yourself of much-needed energy. When feeling powerless, depressed or unmotivated, it’s easy to skip your daily workout or eat a bag of potato crisps to feel better. Berating yourself every time you eat the wrong foods, constantly focusing on what you cannot eat and approaching your exercise regimen with dread are all ways that negative thought patterns can sabotage your weight loss efforts.
However, tuning into how you feel, acknowledging those feelings and transforming those thoughts into something more positive can actually help you to achieve your weight loss goals faster.
